The song was made in 1942, in Srem (Vojvodina, Serbia) at the territory between Ruma and Sremski Jarak, with the higher concentration of Romani slums. Territory of Srem was under the occupation of Croatia Independent State, with Ustasha army commands. Romani people had been arrested and sent to the concentration camp in Sremska Mitrovica, and then murdered in Jasenovac together with the Romani people from Slavonija.

The refrain of the song saying:

Lila si ma najma e bukvica
thai tradema ande Mitrovica.

Translation:
I have documents but not have the bukvica*
And they took me to Mitrovica (concentration camp).

*The term taken from the Serbian language, used as a name for a military card which provided proof that citizens had been served in the army in the of Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and with it they did not belong to the anti-fascist and communist movement.
